WORKING CONDITIONS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment can be very loud on occasion.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Work alone or as a team member in performing installations, repairs, and preventive maintenance on a large variety of general aviation aircraft.
AUTHORITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the following:
Perform assigned tasks on avionics, electrical systems, airframe, interior, pitot static systems, and associated components, in accordance with current FAA regulations, and appropriate technical manuals
Report any un-airworthy condition to the Chief Inspector and the appropriate Director of Avionics.
Report any un-safe practices to the appropriate Director of Avionics and the Chief Inspector.
Follow and not deviate from any written instructions such as Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, Service Instructions, Kit Installation Instructions, Supplemental Type Certificates, etc. without approval of the Chief Inspector.
Getting an Inspector to sign off his work.
DUTIES AND TASKS
Perform Avionics installations.
Train and assist subordinates in the proper work procedures and practices to be followed
Complete paper work to meet FAA installation requirements
Prepare of work orders and account for productive time and maintenance work records in accordance with approved procedures
Assure the proper identification of serviceable, repairable and condemned parts and assuring airworthiness of all parts installed on an aircraft
Inspector work and report findings to Avionics Shop supervisor and Director of Avionics
Maintain all Avionics equipment and tools in a serviceable working condition
Troubleshoot and perform needed repairs to avionics components and a variety of electrical. Troubleshoot, diagnose, and report findings of discrepancies to appropriate personnel.
Consult and get a plan of action approved before spending more than thirty minutes troubleshooting a problem.
Seek out discrepancies on the aircraft and report them to the Director of Avionics or his designee. Write maintenance forms (squawks) on all discrepancies found.
Repair or replace defective or malfunctioning parts or systems
Repair pitot static systems and perform inspections of these systems
Ensure that all maintenance to be performed has been approved for work.
Install optional or added equipment to aircraft
Operate all power tools and equipment necessary to accomplish a job assignment
Accurately tag and store items removed from the aircraft during the dismantling phase
Make the best use of time during shift. Check with Director of Avionics or Designee before logging any non- productive labor.
Provide proper notification and advanced notice of absence
Report to work on time each day, after lunch, after breaks, and not leave early
Maintain the work area in a neat and orderly manner. Clean up spilled fuel or hazardous materials immediately.
Make required logbook entries of repairs and comply with all company and FAA requirements
Document descriptively, the findings found during inspections in appropriate location
Complete all required maintenance records and turn the aircraft binders in to Maintenance Control at the end of each shift.
Respect the confidentiality of company, customer, and personnel information
Maintain cooperative working relationships with supervisors and other staff members
Demonstrate ability to tactfully handle difficult situations
Recognize and deal with priorities.
Perform maintenance duties away from base on temporary duty
Ensure all time cards and time sheets are properly filled out at squawk change or job completion and turned in at the end of each shift.
Coordinate maintenance activities with Lead and other technicians who are assigned to the same job.
Wear a clean complete company uniform and maintain a well-groomed, professional appearance, appropriate for the position.
Perform other duties and tasks as may be assigned from time to time by the Director of Avionics
Ensure that all company operations are conducted in an ethical and prudent manner

Basic Electronics Training
Valid Driver's License
3-5 years previous experience in general aviation aircraft
Knowledge of one or more of the following systems: Bendix King, Collins Proline, Garmin, Aspen, STEC
Prefer experience on Beechcraft Piston and Turbine/Jet Aircraft, Cessna Piston and Turbine/Jet Aircraft and Cirrus Aircraft.
