Job Description

Greet customers, tow, fuel and park aircraft.

This Job Description establishes and defines the authority, accountability, reporting relationships, responsibilities, and duties of the Line Service Technician at Central Flying Service.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

The Line Service Technician reports directly to a designated shift supervisor and from time to time any other supervisor. A senior Line Service Technician may be assigned to serve as temporary supervisor, in which case with Line Service Technicians then report to him/her. Line Service Techs report to the Line Crew Chief and indirectly to the Director of Operations.

Education
Required: High School Diploma or GED
Licensing/Registration/Certification
Required: Valid Drivers License
Desired: NATA Safety 1st Training
Experience
Applicant must have at least three year work history with at least one year previous employment experience in technical service, such as automotive, aviation, port authorities, railroad, or one years experience in the operation of heavy support equipment such as tractors, K-loaders, mobile fuel tenders etc., and/or the operation of machinery such as that found in agricultural, military or other aviation related environments.
Aircraft handling experience is preferred.
Skill, Knowledge and Abilities
Applicant must have ability to perform basic arithmetic math calculations.
Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
Good communication skills including the ability to project positive tonal inflection in speech pattern.
Employee must be able to remember, and recall accurately, multiple 4 & 5 digit number combinations.
Physical
This is a physically demanding job. Employees must be capable of performing the following tasks.
Drag a heavy hose full of fuel while climbing a ladder
Lift a heavy tow bar while bent over under the nose of an aircraft.
Manually open and close very large hangar doors.
Carry heavy luggage and packages a distance of 50 ft.
Perform grounds maintenance involving tasks such as mowing grass, sweeping hangars and shoveling snow.
Employee must have the full use of all five senses.
Employee must be able to lift 85 pounds.
Employee must be able to bend, twist, turn, kneel, crouch, crawl and reach
overhead.
Employee must be able to tolerate weather extremes hot or cold, wet or dry.
Mental
Employee must possess a positive attitude and consumer friendly demeanor.
Employee must be able to work cooperatively in group or team settings as well as control temper and manage stress.
Employee must be truthful and open about errors and/or accidents.
WORKING CONDITIONS

Most of the work for this position will be performed outside. This employee will be exposed to the full range of outdoor temperature extremes normal to Little Rock Arkansas during the year. This employee will work around operating aircraft. The dangers associated with this position include exposure to excessive noise and potential injury caused by contact with moving aircraft parts such as propellers or jet engines. The employee will also be exposed to the dangers associated with handling hazardous and flammable materials such as aviation fuels and lubricants.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The essential function of this employee is aviation ground support and customer service. The Line Service Technician will care for aircraft that are stored in hangars or parked on the flight line, and upon request, assist with pre and post flight preparations. This will involve towing and refueling of the aircraft as well as providing assistance to crews and passengers with items such as ground transportation and baggage handling. He/she will maintain the appropriate appearance to compliment the desired image of the corporation and incorporate all recommended practices for good trend setting customer service to include the use prescribed circumstantial verbiage, slogans and tag lines.
AUTHORITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

There are no specified authorities associated with this position. The employee is responsible for performing ground support for aircraft. As such, he is responsible for ensuring that all work performed meets the standards of the Federal Aviation Administration, and that all work conducted by this employee assists in rendering the aircraft safe for flight. This employee will be empowered, in varying and graduated degrees, to facilitate exceptional customer service.
DUTIES AND TASKS

Perform aircraft refueling and defueling operations

Park arriving aircraft using prescribed marshalling signals.

Safely tow aircraft in and around flight line areas and hangars.

Maintain a clean and orderly flight line free of foreign object debris (FOD) and safety hazards.

Ensure aircraft storage hangars are maintained in a clean and hazard free condition.

Upon customer request, move aircraft from storage hangars to the flight line and prepare them for flight.

Perform quality control checks on fuel.

Report any incident involving damage to aircraft or incorrect fueling immediately.

Ensure that all fuel trucks remain filled, stocked and prepared to safely and efficiently operate.

Perform customer service functions such as baggage handling, trash removal, courtesy transportation and any other reasonable request.

Be aware of and maintain airport security procedures, reporting any violations to your supervisor.

Maintain cordial relationships with other employees and customers.

Maintain an awareness of, and conform to, all company policies and procedures.

Maintain a well-groomed, professional appearance at all times.

Ensure that, to the best of the employees abilities and knowledge, every aircraft departing from Central Flying Service is Safe for Flight.

Help ensure profitability of the company through controlling cost. This includes proper preventive maintenance on equipment such as checking oil, the proper use and treatment of equipment as well as to ensure that lights are off when not needed and water is not wasted.

Perform all additional tasks as may be assigned from time to time by a supervisor.

Weekend work required

Some overtime required
